Coach Alisha Savage was born and raised in Corning, CA. She was a four year member of CUHS Drill Team from 1998-2002 under the direction of Coach Corine Maday. It was throughout her years on the team that she developed a passion for dance and choreography, and decided that she wanted to become a health teacher and dance coach like her role model Mrs. Maday.
Alisha danced for Butte College's dance team, studied choreography in Southern CA, and finished up her degree in Health Science and earned her teaching credential at Chico State. Alisha completed her student teaching at Pleasant Valley High School and landed her first teaching job there. During her 3 years at PV she coached the cheer team. In her third year teaching and coaching at PVHS she was approached by Butte College to bring back their dance program. She coached there for a year before accepting a job at Davis Senior High teaching and coaching competitive cheer. In 2010 she moved to CO with her husband, continued teaching, and took a break from coaching. After 3 years in CO, Alisha accepted the job coaching Drill Team at CUHS to be closer to family, start her own family and fulfill her dream of coaching Drill Team at CUHS.
Alisha loves inspiring young dancers, and takes pride in pushing each dancer to their full potential. She believes in working hard, staying humble, and letting the performance speak for itself. She also cares about the wellness of each dancer on her team, and encourages her team to eat healthy, hydrate, get sleep, manage stress effectively, and think positively. She teaches her team Grit, Growth Mindset, and believes we learn the most from our failures.
Alisha lives in Corning with her biggest fan, her husband and two daughters that inspire her to be her best.
